{"id":102,"date":"2015-05-28T11:14:40","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T16:14:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/?page_id=102"},"modified":"2022-05-27T17:29:46","modified_gmt":"2022-05-27T17:29:46","slug":"regional-workforce-summit","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/mtwc.cee.wisc.edu\/index.php\/mtwc-events\/regional-workforce-summit\/","title":{"rendered":"Midwest Transportation Workforce Summit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Addressing the Future Now!<br \/>\nDecember 7-8, 2015<br \/>\nFluno Center <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3796 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/mtwc.cee.wisc.edu\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/05\/MTWC_Summit_Poster-226x300-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"226\" height=\"300\" \/><br \/>\nUniversity of Wisconsin-Madison<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Madison, Wisconsin<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The\u00a0Midwest Transportation Workforce Center (MTWC) held\u00a0the Midwest Transportation\u00a0Workforce Summit:\u00a0<em>Addressing the Future Now!\u00a0<\/em>on December 7-8, 2015 in Madison, Wisconsin.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The MTWC convened public- and private-sector stakeholders in transportation, education, economic development, and other areas to work\u00a0to improve transportation workforce development in the Midwest and across the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">There were\u00a0one and a half days packed with expert panels, roundtable discussions, and focused presentations that informed and inspired\u00a0new workforce development initiatives and innovative partnerships. There were\u00a0ample opportunities for networking and collaboration with MTWC staff and other attendees.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Summit Materials<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Agenda.<\/strong> The <a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/MTWC-Summit-Program.pdf\">Summit Program<\/a>\u00a0includes the Summit agenda, presentation abstracts, speaker biographies, and some introductory material.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Showcases.<\/strong> The <a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/MTWC_Summit_Showcases.pdf\">descriptions<\/a>\u00a0of the workforce development initiatives that were\u00a0on display during the Summit reception are now available.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Workforce Initiatives.<\/strong> At the MTWC Strategic Advisory Meeting in April 2015, attendees identified a number of possible initiatives for improving transportation workforce development in the Midwest.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Best-Practices-in-Building-a-Pipeline-into-the-Industry.pdf\">Best Practices in Building a Pipeline into the Industry<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Flexible-CDL-Training.pdf\">Flexible CDL Training<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/Job-Vacancy-Survey.pdf\">Job Vacancy Survey<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Outreach-for-Inclusion.pdf\">Outreach for Inclusion<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Summer-Job-League.pdf\">Summer Job League<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Technical-Transportation-Clearinghouse.pdf\">Technical Transportation Clearinghouse<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Transportation-Career-App.pdf\">Transportation Career App<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/mtwc.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/Transportation-Day.pdf\">Transportation Day<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reading Materials.<\/strong> We&#8217;ve identified a number of short pieces of reading material that informed\u00a0the process and discussions at the Summit.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/ssir.org\/articles\/entry\/channeling_change_making_collective_impact_work\">Channeling Change: Making Collective Impact Work<\/a>. This approach underpins our approach to the Summit. The MTWC serves as\u00a0the backbone organization convening stakeholders who share a common message, common measures, and mutually reinforcing activities.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.margaretwheatley.com\/articles\/emergence.html\">Using Emergence to take Social Innovations to Scale<\/a>.
